Early in the season
they run and kick with little rhyme or reason
but sometime in the middle
they seem to figure out the riddle...
The ball goes in the net!
Now they block and defend
sometimes they even pretend
to pass the ball and work together
and no longer ask forever
Is the season over yet?
Their uniforms have seen some wear
and their knees have had one or two tears
they've realized what it takes to work
and I simply have to look at them and smirk
They finally broke a sweat!

Good Season Jane and Mitch!

oh goody your poetry has come back!!!
You are clever Carr! I'm so glad your back!...When are you coming out anyways?
drum roll please... and the poet extraorinaire has entered the building! i love it!!!! promise to be my friend forever!
I always enjoyed writing poems, too! We went to our grandson's Gibson's soccer game one Saturday morning. He WOULDN'T PLAY. He was getting over the flu and stayed on the blanket. His dad is the coach! Then we went to our grandson Carter's T-Ball game last Friday and it was a hoot! My kids said their kids would never play soccer--but guess what--they are!!
Cute poem. Your creative in too many ways to count!
