Budding Artist or Vandal?

All I wanted was a couple of minutes. Just a few minutes to get in a little bit of exercise. And I thought I had all my bases covered. Luke had ample pages of Star Wars printouts to color, he had snacks, and he didn't want to join me in the exercise room. Maybe that should have been my clue right there that really he had something else up his sleeve:

And this doesn't even truly capture the breadth of his artistic endeavor. It covered over two-thirds of the kitchen floor. And as I sat down to write this post I noticed it extended to several cabinets, as well. In all, a well thought out and conceived bit of graffiti in my kitchen.

I'm still not sure if, as he sat in time out for quite some time, he was repentant or defiant. And I'm really wondering what the future holds. Will I next find him hanging from an overpass with a can of spray paint in his hands next? Its quite possible. Particularly in light of what both of my boys accomplished within the span one minute only half and hour after the graffiti incident:

Yes, every hanger in their closets and every bucket of toys in their rooms dumped out for the purpose of.....I don't know and apparently neither do they because when questioned all they could answer was "I don't know.....because we wanted to." Mitchell, at least, understood that this meant the end of an afternoon without constant supervision. But in Luke, again I sense a little defiance and even glee for his escapades. I think we may be in a spot of trouble with this one.

OK, what was the final diagnosis? (Based on what you wrote on my post).

While I was exercising, toothsome #4 wrote with pen all over my antique cedar chest. Agggh

It's the third, I'm telling you. We firmly believe that Lily already does everything naughty while flipping us off behind her back. I've seen the same look in her eyes that Luke has in his. TROUBLE! But, ya still gotta love em.

I think that maybe (being positive) that you have a future artist on your hands...

Okay, THIS I can empathize with! Is it marker? If you need any help removing it, let me know. I happen to be an expert in this area. :)

Oh no! I can't believe those two! There were such sweet little boys when I had them. You might have little artists on your hands!

I would flip out!! I commend you for being calm because I think I would abuse them...maybe I'm adopting too much of the ghetto mentality...you are a good mommy none the less.

Hah! This totally made my day. I don't feel so alone anymore. The other day in the time it took me to change 2 diapers james emptied the entire hall closet--all the board games with little pieces and everything. And, no time out didn't quite seem to make the impression I had hoped. Taking away the blue ducky . . . that's another story. ;) WE miss you!
